Why am I asking for you to donate?
Here’s the skinny… Making videos for YouTube doesn’t have to be an expensive hobby, and I believe I’ve done a great job of surviving on a minimalist’s budget! In total, I have probably invested around $2,500 (of which I have made $0 in return) up to this point in cameras and gear, chemicals, equipment and accessories. I know that doesn’t sound like much, but it has been a stretch for someone who is passionate about sharing science and making videos but has to do so on a teacher’s salary with a family to feed. I know I have gained the skills necessary to take my channel to the next level, but I currently lack the budget for some necessary equipment that I need to make it happen.
Here’s a few key things that are currently limiting my production capabilities:
- A high-quality, 4K camera that can shoot at least 120fps at 1080p.
- A slow motion camera capable of 1000fps (which isn’t much in the world of slow-mo cameras).
- A dedicated video-editing computer that doesn’t lag down when the edit gets intense!
- I have a few ideas that require some chemicals and things that I don’t have…
- And I have a few places I’d like to visit to make some epic videos sometime in the future…
So I’m full of ideas and am passionate about making it happen, but I lack some resources. I’m not looking to add a film crew and cinema-quality equipment, but a few upgrades would be helpful! I’m quickly approaching the 1000-subscriber milestone and know that beyond that, I need to polish my skills to take things to the next level. With your help, we can make these things happen so I can create more content and better content for years to come!
My goal for the future of my YouTube channel is to be able to showcase the many ways science has impacted out world. Science has played a role in every aspect of everyone’s lives, and I want to share a glimpse of the brilliant minds that have helped develop the world we live in. Maybe I can instill a fondness for the scientific method with my viewers and develop more analytical thinkers? Maybe I can inspire someone to get involved in science?
